Before I dive in, let me tell you a little bit about this micro-blog series. My DJ spotlight pieces will feature some of my favorite artists and discuss some of the more interesting aspects of their music and careers.

For my first DJ Spotlight piece, I’ve decided to talk about Lee Burridge, a all-time personal favorite of mine, and simply spectacular entertainer. I’ve seen him perform numerous times, and have never experienced an “off-day.” I was lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time when he showed up to do a surprise sunrise set for a very small group of people at the I Feel: Summer Escape. Truly unforgettable.

More about Lee though. With a career that spans over 15 years, Lee Burridge brings an upbeat yet dreamy energy every time he steps into the DJ booth.  His mixes feature a storytelling style that encompasses and transcends the “deep house” feel. As an experienced producer, Burridge has mixed albums for many different labels including, Global Underground.

Lee has brought his creative tracks to electronic music lovers all over the world. He began his career in the 1980s as a resident at The Palace in Somerset and then traveled to Hong Kong where he performed for about ten years. Later on in his career, the DJ whiz developed the 365 project. Lee took the project all over the world staying and performing in cities like Ibiza, Florence, Buenos Aires, Sydney, and New York for one or two months. Lee saw this as a good way to learn more about the electronic music scene in different areas around the globe.

In 2011, Lee started his own daytime event and label called All Day I Dream. According to the website All Day I Dream events “began on a baking Brooklyn rooftop back in 2011 and have since become an international sensation, spurred on by Lee Burridge’s signature technicolor emotionalism, the sort that’s all too rare in the current electronic music scene.” This event and label are one of Lee’s major focuses as it continues to grow and foster upcoming DJs like Yokoo, Lost Desert, and Bedouin. Lee continues to make music and has released collaborations with Lost Desert on All Day I Dream; his latest release is Elongi EP.

As an accomplished DJ, Lee Burridge has appeared on the DJ Magazine Top 100 rankings nine times since 1999. Currently, the DJ splits his time between various cities while performing at his own events as well as at clubs and festivals.
